Privacy

The short version: your coop design stays on your device. We do not ask who you are unless you buy a plan, and the only cookies are Google Analytics visit statistics and, after a purchase, one that opens your plan.

Who we are

The Coop Planner (thecoopplanner.com) is operated by Westernmost LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, 32 N Gould St, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA, which is responsible for this site and for this policy. "We" and "us" on this page mean Westernmost LLC.

What we collect

The Coop Planner does not have user accounts and does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details to use the coop designer, the calculators, the free plans or the guides.

The flock and the coop sizes you enter in the designer and the calculators are processed by code running in your own browser. They are not sent to us unless you buy a builder's plan (see below). When you share or bookmark a design, the settings are stored in the page address (the part after the question mark), so anyone you send the link to can open the same design.

The free summary PDF from the designer, and the free PDF on each plan page, are generated on your device and saved where you choose. We never receive a copy.

If you buy a builder's plan

Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as our payment processor. You enter your card and contact details on Stripe's checkout page, not on ours, and we never see or store your card number. Stripe handles that data under its own privacy policy, including to prevent fraud.

To make your plan, your design settings (flock, coop sizes, run and options) are sent to our server and stored with your payment record at Stripe. From Stripe we receive the email address, name and country you give at checkout, the amount paid, the tax and the payment status.

When the payment goes through, we keep an order record in our own database, hosted by Cloudflare: your email address, the design settings, the amounts paid and the tax, your country, the order status (including any refund or payment dispute) and when the plan was opened and downloaded. We use it to email you a receipt and links to your plan, to rebuild your plan whenever you ask for it, to answer you, to honor our guarantee and refunds, and to keep the accounting and tax records the law requires. We do not keep a copy of the PDF: it is generated each time you download it, with your email address printed in its footer. Order emails are sent from hello@thecoopplanner.com through Cloudflare's email service. We do not use any of this for marketing and we do not sell it.

When you ask for a link on the Get my plan page, we store a one-way hash of the email address you typed and of your IP address for 24 hours, only to limit how many links can be requested, and we send the link only to the email address that bought the plan.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages, plans and guides people use and how they find them. Google Analytics sets its own first-party cookies and collects data such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the type of device and browser, and your approximate location derived from your IP address. It receives the page address without the part after the question mark, so your design settings are not sent to it. We use these reports in aggregate only; we do not combine them with your purchase or with any information that identifies you. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy, and you can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking or clearing cookies for thecoopplanner.com in your browser settings.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask first: Google Analytics only loads if you choose "Allow". Everywhere else, it loads by default. Your choice is saved in your browser (local storage, not a cookie) and applies on every page.

You can change your choice at any time: change my analytics choice. The same link is in the footer of every page. Choosing "No thanks" stops Google Analytics on this site from then on; clearing your browser's site data for thecoopplanner.com also resets it.

Apart from Google Analytics, the site sets one cookie, and only if you buy a plan: a strictly necessary cookie named tcp_plan, set when you open your plan, that lets that browser download it again for 14 days. It holds your order number and a signature, nothing else. We do not use advertising cookies or social media trackers.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. That processing is covered by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.

Fonts are hosted on our own domain, so loading a page does not send requests to third-party font services.

If you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to reply and to fix what you report, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

Pages link to the extension publications our rules come from. Their privacy practices are their own; check them when you visit.
